VANCOUVER ISLAND - In an effort to get bike racks installed on the bumpers of Greyhound buses, an online petition — with more than 300 signatures at time of publishing — is being circulated.
“I travel regularly between Victoria and Nanaimo, and would like to do so more often, but the facilities to travel conveniently with a bike on the island without a car simply do not exist,” said Jawn Lafratta, a cycling advocate who started the petition.
“The easiest option for improving these conditions are for bike racks to be installed on the buses. It has been done in similar situations, so I see no reason why Greyhound can't do the same. It will only mean more potential customers for them.”
Lafratta said the service is one that Vancouver Island residents want and need.
