  Wouldn't it be a greater idea if all bicycles generated energy for later use? I mean wouldn't it be nice if while we are using our bikes we are recharging a battery that we can use later on some household appliance. In fact this concept is not new, there are many "green gyms" that use this concept and even a City Jail in the Philippines where prisoners used stationary bikes to charge a battery which later powers their lights at night.   I think a greater idea would be rather than using an upright stationary bike we should start using the recumbent stationary bikes (go to http://www.dogengine.com/used-stationary-bikes.php to see the different types of stationary bikes). Why? it is the more relaxed version of the stationary bikes which I believe will maximize the potential usage of the stationary bike thus more energy produced.
