Redline Conquest 20

MSRP $389 USD

(Review based on weeks of testing by Robert's eight-year-old son.)

The Redline Conquest 20 is a performance-oriented bike for kids ages six to 10. On assembly, it is clear that the intention was to provide a child's bike that is light and features high quality components — something normally reserved for adult bikes. The result is an impressively responsive machine that makes it easier for kids to keep up with their parents, which can boost their confidence.

The 6061 aluminum frame coupled with an Alex wheelset produces a bike that is significantly lighter (20 lbs. claimed weight) than the standard child's bike. The difference is marked enough that the responsiveness took getting used to for my son.

His favorite feature is the brakes. The mountain-bike style levers are easily adjustable to be compatible with the short reach of small hands and are paired with long-armed caliper brakes that deliver sure braking.
