I wanted to let you know why I decided to subscribe to momentum magazine. I read issue number 44 cover to cover after picking it up at the Momentum party at The Jupiter Hotel in Portland, OR, after the Pedal Nation show. I’m an everyday bike commuter in Portland and what I like most about momentum is that it makes me feel included. I loved the interview with the Portland realtor who shows houses by bike and the Calgarian bike commuting dad. They are accessible, everyday people who have kids and jobs and believed in the bicycle. I can relate to that.

I ride a 1978 ten-speed Campagna. My friend gives me a hard time because I put a kickstand on it. I guess kickstands aren’t cool. But I’m rocking mine.

Some bike magazines come across as being exclusive. It’s like, if I don’t have the latest, coolest gear or if I’m not racing competitively, I’m not invited to the party. Momentum is different; it acknowledges that bikers don’t have to be in a club to be part of the movement. We are parents, professionals, commuters, hobbyists and fashionistas! (I bike in heels.) I look forward to reading more momentum.

Thanks for making me feel like I am a part of the bike community.
