Melon Slice- Riding

Ben Johnson

Kristi Tatebe with Melon Folding bike

MSRP $499 USD

For over four months, the Melon has been in and out of my bike storage – in rain and shine, hot and cold. It has kept going through everything with a minimum of fuss. The bright red angular geometry of the bike has withstood asphalt, gravel and dirt. It has also ridden with me on transit when I was faced with a hill that seemed too big for the eight-speed drive train. It folds up quickly – handlebars and pedals included – although I would like a way of making sure it doesn’t unfold while carrying. The Slice makes you sit up straight and is great for flat to moderately hilly commutes. I would like to see a rack and fenders shipped with the bike since it is a good fit for regular commuting, and not just for fair weather riding. These accessories are available directly from Melon and their dealers.
