If we don’t know you yet, we definitely should.

We are the Active Transportation Alliance (formerly Chicagoland Bicycle Federation), your advocate for better biking, walking, and transit around Chicagoland. Our membership has been holding steady at about 6,000 (half from Chicago and half from the suburbs) for the last few years.

We think everyone should be an Active Trans member because we need every last voice to build bicycle-friendly communities that are better places to work, live and play.

And now everyone can join because we have adjusted our definition of membership.

We want you to decide how you commit yourself to working for safety and choices in transportation. You can even become a member for little or no money.

There are several levels of membership. At any amount, you will receive our bi-weekly e-bulletin, Traffic Signals, and legislative alerts. At the $30 member-card level, you will also receive our monthly newsletter, Modeshift, a Chicagoland Bicycle Map, member discounts at bike shops all around town, and many other benefits. You get all of those benefits at $100, plus a listing in our annual report.

Get all of those benefits at $250 plus your choice of Pedal Power by Harry Wray, Tips and Tricks by Dave Glowacz, The Chicago “L” by Greg Borzo [Chicago Section Editor of momentum] or a subscription to the magazine you are perusing right now. For more information on these and other levels, visit activetrans.org.

There is strength in numbers; we offer the option to add any family member for only $10. And no worries if you are tight on cash: you can even volunteer your way to a member card!

We have always been member based. If you are already a member, you know that our members are our eyes and ears, checks and balances. They are the ones who let us know about unfair laws, where to aim our advocacy, and what is important in their community. But they are also the ones who back us when we go toe-to-toe to fix those things.

Add your voice today. Spread the word and help bring our work to the next level. You can sign up online or at one of our upcoming member-only mixers. See you soon!
