Maintaining its trademark close-fitting look and variety of spunky colorful patterns, the new generation of Nutcase’s “classics” helmet collection is just as much fun as the last — but even more functional. The new Adjustable Spin Dial in the back allows the helmet to fit snugger, as it can be tailored to the exact size of the wearer’s head without adding or subtracting pads (though extra pads are still included). The spin dial can expand to accommodate a bulky hat.

This makes it feel more secure, especially as the pads inside Nutcase helmets definitely wear down over time. The spin dial can expand to accommodate a bulky hat. I discovered to my pleasant surprise that when tightened it also (no joke) minimizes the damage the helmet causes to hair styles by keeping the helmet snug around the front and back of the head and reducing friction up top.

It takes a few days of cycling to get used to the new magnetic buckle. But after a few tries, the new buckle is far easier to operate with gloves on, and can be done up with only one hand. The real question will be how the buckle holds up over time.

The new additions are great, and are especially handy for those biking regularly in cold weather.
