I have been using this backpack for the past four months, putting it through international travel, bike and hiking excursions and daily commuting and shopping trips in rain, shine and snow. My medium/ large pack has been a burly companion that can tote up to 34-liters-worth of stuff and weighs 2.9 pounds (1.3 kilograms).

Pros

The pack comes with a “lidlock” strap on the front designed specifically to secure your bike helmet and still leave room for a lock in the front pouch. Organization is made easier by the many different storage areas, including one curved zip pouch on the upper front, two on the lower-front sides and two on the shoulder straps (one designed for a cellphone and one for keys). Cinching points on both sides are good for strapping on additional items. Inside the pack is one large extendable storage area and a large pocket for papers and other flat items, as well as some smaller mesh pockets for keys, pens, money, etc. A second padded storage area, located further to the back, fits a medium-sized laptop. I've used this backpack in heavy rainfall and the contents stayed dry, thanks to the waterproof raincover that tucks away on the underside of the pack.

Cons

The elastic inside the waterproof rain cover did break, but, luckily, Osprey offers an “all mighty guarantee,” so I am in the process of getting it repaired or replaced right now. I found that larger items placed in the main storage area were harder to retrieve, and so have taken to only putting extra shoes and bulky items there and using the zip pockets for smaller items to keep them from getting lost in the bowels of the backpack.

Ideal For

This backpack is great for people who bike in all weather conditions and carry a lot of items.

Overall

My backpack, in vibrant yellow, has been a welcome companion on my trips around the city – and has been particularly useful when I need to carry a change of cloths, cleats, work documents, a water bottle and lunch, all at once!
