Average price range $700-$1400 USD/CAD, depending on gearing options (rack, fenders and chainguards are extra). 1-speed model not available by retail in the US.

Though it is billed as a commuter/utility bike, when we imagined where the Urbana would find a good home, the image of a tourist rental or hotel guest bike came to mind. After riding it around hilly Vancouver, we agreed it was not the fastest ticket across town, but that its fat 2.6" tires could be handy in smoothing out bumps and potholes – a plus for less-agile riders. The Urbana is hefty, weighing in at over 40 pounds, and that sturdiness could be an advantage for a bike that gets passed around to many different riders. The back brake is a drum brake, with a disc brake in the front – so there’s plenty of stopping power. The Urbana features a step-through frame, BMX-style bars and has the option of fenders, RNR rear rack and the option of one, three, seven or eight gears. Available in 11 colours. urbanabikes.com
