The 6th Annual San Francisco Bicycle Music Festival Rolls Out June 23rd.

The sixth annual San Francisco Bicycle Music Festival will take place on Saturday June 23, 2012 from 12:00pm - 5:00pm at Golden Gate Park's Log Cabin Meadow and 6:00 pm - 11:00 pm at Showplace Triangle plaza (@ 8th and Irwin Streets).

The San Francisco Bicycle Music Festival is a free, all-day, all-ages, outdoor concert featuring musical acts from around the Bay Area. Mobility, audience participation, and zero use of fossil fuels are the defining characteristics of the Festival.

All amplification for the music is Pedal Powered, meaning that the audience generates electricity for the sound system by pedaling bicycles using Pedal Powered Stage gear provided by Rock The Bike and co-founding act SHAKE YOUR PEACE!. Every material aspect of the Festival - sound equipment, instruments, gear, personnel, musicians, and fans - is transported by bicycle.

We invite the audience to join the caravan-style bicycle parade, from Golden Gate Park to Showplace Triangle for a most unique performance from atop a bicycle-pulled mobile stage. This year the LiveOnBike parade will roll across the City featuring Jazz Mafia.

Line Up: The festival line-up includes performances by Rupa & the April Fishes, Oona, Birds & Batteries, Jazz Mafia, SHAKE YOUR PEACE!, Major Powers & the Lo-Fi Symphony, Lia Rose, and more.

During the Festival, participants can make bike-blended smoothies and ice cream with crafty bike-mounted and bike-powered appliances. Although this is a completely free event, we suggest attendees bring cash to support the bands and for food, a cup for bike blended smoothies, and warm clothes for nighttime!

The mission of the Bicycle Music Festival is to promote sustainable culture in general and bicycle culture in particular, by physically engaging and immersing our community in free, participatory, bicycle-based music and arts events.

At this year's festival fans will be treated to true concert sound thanks to Rock The Bike's new Pedal Powered Line Array (vertical hanging column of speakers favored by concert sound engineers), 2 1000-watt subwoofers, and an expanded sound board.

As the world's largest human-powered music festival, The SF Bicycle Music Festival brings together environmental stewardship and the vitality and diversity of Bay Area musicians and artists. Bicycle Music Festival is a proud Park Partner of the San Francisco Parks Alliance.
