Betabrand Bike to Work Pants
So many cycling pants to choose from, so little time. At least when it comes to options for men. For women, the choices remain very limited. Very few companies have yet to roll out a women’s version of a jean or pant designed with cycling in mind. Luckily for us, Betabrand is the exception to this rule.
I’ve been zipping around town and riding to work in Betabrand's Bike to Work Pants (MSRP $108) for a month. I find myself reaching for them at least once a week. Let me tell you why:
Fit – These pants fit so well! The higher waist creates a nice silhouette and really sets them apart from jeans. I also appreciate the boot cut pant leg as it's a nice break from the skinny jean/ pant we’ve all been wearing for a decade.
Comfort – With just the right amount spandex these pants provide flexibility for cycling, or any other activity. The material is a thicker cotton blend that provides a little bonus warmth during the chilly winter months. While the fabric thickness is a plus, it becomes a little too much at the lower part of the pant leg. Here it is reinforced with a waterproof and reflective material that when flipped up keeps your pant let away from your chain and adds extra visibility. However, when not rolled up and the pant legs rub together while walking I find it sounds like I’m wearing snow pants.
Durability – It’s been a month, several bike rides, a couple of washes, and no complaints so far.
Style - I simply love the look of Betabrand's Bike to Work Pants. The black pair that I’ve been wearing can be dressed up with a shirt, necklace, and heels for a polished, professional work look. The boot cut gives them a very professional look. On the weekend, I dress them down with a sweater and loafers making them a great casual/ work option. Hidden in the rear pockets are pull out flaps with extra reflective material. As I've been riding in the winter months with a longer jacket I have yet to use these. While the reflective flap is a unique feature that many will appreciate, I don't see myself using it.
I’m a huge fan of Betabrand clothing in general and really I think that they’ve nailed it with the women’s Bike to Work pants. I’m asking for the red pair for my birthday.
