It doesn't matter if you prefer to breakaway from the pack, ride with a core group or bunny hop around town, Vancouver-based designer Raj Gill wants everyone to enjoy the adventure to and from work with his new line of commuter clothing.
"Our customer prefers clothing that speaks to the commuter’s needs. It provides function while looking sharp with updated trends," says Gill. Using the skills, knowledge and experience gained from working in the garment industry, Gill has created Venturist Commuter Attire. He believes his designs speak to men who live and breathe the cycling lifestyle and desire clothing suited to it.
Gill started making clothing after hearing that men in Vancouver, Canada prefer to cycle in their business casual attire. As well, his passion for cycling from a young age, has shaped the stem of the line. To meet the needs of bicycle commuters, Gill uses "fabrics that are waterproof, breathable, windproof and chemically treated." His styles have been inspired by these quality fabrics, his understanding of commuter needs and his insight into forecasted trends. Venturist debuted at a fashion show in April, 2012.
"Preparing for a fashion show has been quite the experience with all the work that has to go into it," states Gill. This process included arranging photo shoots, choosing runway music, models, and, most importantly, sewing commuter garments.
"Anyone can make pretty clothes, but to produce garments that make a difference in this world is priceless, and worth your money," says the designer. Gill hopes to pursue a career in Toronto, Canada. He will continue his passion for design and one day hopes to open his own boutique.
