Kid Powered School Bus

Michael Coren, Yes Magazine

Putting a new spin on riding the school bus.

Over at fastcoexist, Michael J Coren has taken the family biking world by storm with a great profile of the ultimate kid-powered school bus. So much fun!

A neighbour of ours sent us this delightful link. There are at least nine kids on our street who go to the same school or will soon be going to the same school. I can just imagine parents taking turns 'driving' this awesome bus. What a party!

Happy riding!

  • How much do school buses cost?

Interesting...$1667/kid for a bike bus sounds like a seriously huge amount of money when walking is free. However, this does raise an interesting point: how much does it cost/kid for gas powered school buses?

  • 9 kids = 1667$ per kid

There are plenty of willing adult driver-cyclists on our street - the real impediment is cost at 1667$ Devonshire kid on our street.
I wonder if we could find a way to subsidize this through the city or schoolboard?
