"You all deserve to die in smog in my eyes. " Nice. Stop telling me I deserve to die in smog and go make some new "forms." Weirdo. ;-) I'm going to keep riding my bike while you do that.

Great site, the above comments are all more or less correct (for me) but forget to consider the sad people who have dedicated their whole lives to car production and the car industry. They are the majority, and so they have the strongest lobby - but if some smart soul would come up with "a new bike" then others would copy. Sadly we are living with the same bike-form for the last 120 years without anyone CHALLENGING the form. Two little wheels connected with a weird metal pipework and pushed forward through a chain? Hey, had no one ever walked out of the shop and said "I am not going to buy this rubbish, don't you have anything NEW"?

Build your own. Don't buy rubbish made by big industry in the form that they want.

Why are there no wheels available which are as tall as we are? Why are there no bikes with aerodynamic forms which can enhance our movement? Why has all progress since 1870 stopped besides producing "frames" which are lighter and stronger? Why do we reply on silly chains and gears which are the cause of huge losses of energy? Why are the brakes all made to destroy our collected kinetic energy? Why are we "making progress" by transforming kinetic energy into electrical energy and then back into kinetic energy through "modern" machines which we drag around in oder to "aid" our lack of strength?
The answer to all of the above is simply because the broader manufacturing industry prefers things like that. Thus no one who is seriously interested in getting from "a" to "b" with a load, will use his "standard bike" since on this silly perverted form you cannot take a drum kit, cannot take an acquarium, cannot take a fridge, in fact you can transport nothing much more than yourself. Funny that cars are the same, no change for over 100 years. No change, yes no change. What changes have been made? Look at the form of a bike or car from 1880 and 1980 from a distance. What do you see, an oblong box with four wheels on the bottom (car) or a wirey form around two wheels. No form which looks like a butterfly, or a sheet of paper, or a worm, or another form which could be a source of NEW IDEAS and not the same old bundle of trash that has been sold to us for centuries.
Do no hang glider kids ride bikes? Do no skateboarder kids have workshops to create BIG boards? Or are you all just relying on going to the shops to buy your super latest expression of being independent, your latest form of showing how strong and smart you are.
I am disappointed thoroughly to see how unimaginative you all are. Not a single soul out there CHALLENGING the standard trash but just accepting and paying and not asking questions. You all deserve to die in smog in my eyes. An alien landing on this planet would not choose a single person to show them "progress in his world" when it sees just how cramped and gullable this species has come to be. What use is someone who just takes the thing from the rack instead of making his own?
We have the power, but have been choked. OK ;-)
