The Art of Giving Art is the slogan of this global movement, which began five years ago in Berlin. Papergirl is a non-commercial art project for all, from the amateur to the professional artist. It aims at taking art out of the galleries and onto the streets via direct delivery to the public in the style of the American paperboy.
The worldwide project has taken place (to name a few) in New York, San Francisco, Portland, and last year in Kelowna, and we are excited to be bringing it to Vancouver.
Artists both locally and globally are invited to participate by donating their work as part of a weeklong exhibition to be held at the Roundhouse Community Arts Centre running August 22 to 26. On the final day of the exhibition, volunteers will come together to bundle the artwork into rolls, to be distributed by a team of volunteer cyclists, to completely random strangers!
