VANCOUVER, BC - On Saturday, July 16th, you can join the eatART Foundation (Energy Awareness Through Art) for their third annual energy awareness fundraiser on the front lawn of the Vancouver Art Gallery.

This street party will feature robotic sculptures and live performances powered by teams of "watt-riders" – volunteers who generate this power by riding stationary bikes connected to generators.

These generators are then connected to a sound system where the riders will collect "energy pledges" that are measured by the amount of "watts raised." This pedal-powered energy will also be used to power the tents and information booth.

This family-friendly event will have:

Giant Zero Emissions Kinetic Sculptures: Daisy the Solar-Powered Tricycle, Gramorail, the Mondo Spider, Prosthesis, and Titanoboa. For more info go to http://www.eatart.org/projects.html

Watt Riders: Each team will be dressed up in costumes according to different themes

A Live Performance: by RESORTS (featuring members of Brasstronaut)

DJ’s: Brad Winter, Leigh Christie, Cole Crocker, and Matthew Johnson

EatART is an art-research lab that focuses on large scale, kinetic, and robotic sculpture. Using art to educate people about the role energy plays in our lives, eatART also seeks to raise questions about the social and environmental impact of energy use.
