Viva Bike Vegas 2011 is coming Saturday, Oct. 15th. It will be the fourth year for this annual cycling event.The rides are put on by the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC).
There will be three routes to choose from: a 103-mile century ride, a 60-mile ride and a 17-mile ride. Cyclists of all levels are welcomed to take part. All participants will have the opportunity to ride through the bright lights of the Las Vegas strip with a police escort this year. The century riders will bike from the strip to the vistas of the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and the trails near Lake Mead National Park.
When the rides are finished, there will be live entertainment at the festival site for cyclists and spectators. At the RTC Bike Vegas Beer Garden participants can cheer on the other returning riders.
If you register before August 13th the price for the three rides is $100. There is also late registration until September 25th for $125 and last minute registration until October 9th for $150.
Hotels that will be offering discounted rates to cyclists are: Mandalay Bay, Monte Carlo and Staybridge Suites Las Vegas.
Proceeds from the rides will go to three local charities. The charities are Nevada Cancer Institute, After-School All-Stars Las Vegas and Nevada Child Seekers.
