Linus Mixte 8 - Price $799 USD, $900 CAD

Find it at linusbike.com

The Linus Mixte 8 comes with a Shimano Nexus internal eight-speed hub, handlebar shifters, a rear rack, kickstand, front and rear fenders and 700c Schwalbe tires. It is available in Sage or Cream, but only one size, 49 centimeters, which is suitable for someone between four feet 10 inches and five feet 10 inches tall.

Pros

The Shimano Nexus gear shifter smoothly clicks into gear when riding and when stationary. The front and rear fenders offer protection from rain and mud and the Linus rear rack is perfect for attaching bags or a basket. If you usually store your bike inside, the small, light steel frame, weighing 32.6 pounds is relatively easy to carry up a flight of stairs. The bike scores high in style points for its classic, vintage frame and simple, unfussy features.

Cons

May not be suitable for very short or tall riders as it only comes in one size. If you are a biker looking to commute longer distances, or if you are taking the bike on bumpier terrain for an extended amount of time, then you may want to look at getting a more comfortable, perhaps spring-loaded seat.

Ideal Rider

The Linus Mixte 8 is a great entry-point bike, perfect for the rider who makes short to middle-distance trips around the city.

Overall

The price, style and practical features make the Linus an ideal leisure bike that works well for cruising around town. I took the Linus mostly on short trips around the city and found it very easy to maneuver. The eight speeds helped me conquer pretty much every hill.
