Hovenring Eindhoven Designed by ipv Delft
This spectacular circular cycle bridge in the Dutch city of Eindhoven recently been opened to the public.
The cable-stayed bridge, designed by ipv Delft, offers cyclists and pedestrians an exciting crossover. With its impressive pylon, 72-meter diameter, thin deck, and conspicuous lighting, the cyclist roundabout is a new landmark for the city.
Some background on why the bridge was constructed from the Bicycle Dutch blog:
Every day 25,000 vehicles pass this junction. The city wanted to emphasize this importance. Eindhoven is considered a brain port and feels it has a leading role in innovation and technology. All those qualities had to be reflected in the high quality design for this new piece of infrastructure: “spectacular in simplicity”.
