VANCOUVER, BC - The Vancouver leg of Momentum's epic BikeStyle Tour - which proceeded stops in Toronto, Montreal and Las Vegas (Interbike) - attracted a large crowd of eager trend watchers and bike fashion connoisseurs, along with the usual bunch of happy party goers and interested onlookers.

Calabash Bistro (428 Carrall St.) and the street in front of it were fashion show central on Oct. 7, complete with DJ, runway, bright lights, bike valet and professional photographers.

The party highlighted fashionable, sustainable and practical fall clothing and rain wear that would fit just about anyone's riding style.

Momentum models, including media personality Margaret Gallagher from CBC Radio's Early Edition program, whizzed up the runway - the Carrall Street bikeway - on their bikes, dismounted and struck a pose for the cheering crowd. Models showed off fashion from local designers, such as Allison Wonderland, and North American designers, such as Modrobes and Outlier.

After the fashion show, there was plenty of music, beer and raffle prizes to keep the night's festivities going into the wee hours.

Local sponsors included JV Bike, Bike Vancouver (City of Vancouver), the Vancouver Area Cycling Coalition, the Honey Mustard and the Calabash Bistro.

AVEDA provided post style-ride hair and makeup touchups and shared tips on staying fresh on a bike. Nutcase showed off their colorful display of protection, while Abus Locks showed guests how to protect their bikes. Knog provided the latest in lighting and Axiom baskets and panniers showed us how to take home all our bike swag. Electra showed Canadians how to roll on Dutch style bikes, while Dahon, the leaders of folding bikes, hooked one of our readers up with our grand door prize, a Limited Edition Dahon Kukuxumusu folding bike!
