Beyond the French doors of a 1923 firehouse visitors are welcomed to The Bicycle Stand. Inside, a cobblestone entry way is lined with vintage European racing and city bicycles leading to the heart of the shop. Here a service area is surround by a sit down bar where nearby displays feature old and new stock vintage parts.

Owners Nicole and Evan got their start restoring classic bikes in their college days. “What started off as us painting bikes in our garages five years ago has blossomed in to a great area of specialization. We have full restoration capabilities on hand from chroming, to frame repair, to decals, to hand painted details,” said Evan. The couple has transformed their passion for all styles of riding into a welcoming shop located in a historic Long Beach neighborhood. “Long Beach has the unique advantage of receiving all the sunshine and diversity (and did we mention sunshine?) as Los Angeles without the hectic freeways and smog. Our city streets are flat and well maintained. Local neighborhoods are perfectly spaced for quick rides.”

“We perform a variety of in-depth restoration tasks including paint, decals, pin striping, lug outlining, chroming, plating, and frame repair. We build wheels, mount tubular tires, and are also familiar with the latest tech on more modern road bikes,” said Evan. “All these things in one space working together makes us different. Satisfying and tempting the cyclist’s palate with something new is part of the plan as you walk through and experience The Bicycle Stand.”

While specialists in restoring bicycles, the shop also caters to the everyday rider with a selection of city and trekking accessories such as racks, handlebar bags, panniers, fenders, baskets, and lighting. Monthly Velo Caravan rides hosted by the shop are open to anyone looking for a casual social ride.
