Position: Digital Content & Marketing Assistant, Momentum Magazine
Location: Vancouver
Term: Starts July 18 (16 weeks)
Hours of work: 40 hrs a week
Hourly Rate: $16/hr

Job Description:

The Digital Content + Marketing Assistant is looking to gain experience in digital content creation and marketing, all while contributing to a global voice for the urban biking lifestyle. The successful candidate will get hands on experience creating engaging content for and our e-­newsletters and social media channels. The successful candidate will nurture his or her voice to provide Momentum’s audience with engaging, smart & useful content that inspires more everyday biking. The ideal candidate will have some experience writing content, and who knows his or her way around WordPress and Adobe Creative Suite and is familiar using spreadsheets and Google Docs. The Digital Content + Marketing Assistant will work with Momentum’s Managing Editor and Marketing Manager and will collaborate with the Sales Department.


  • Assist the Managing Editor and Marketing Coordinator with content production, ad campaign delivery, print magazine asset collection, subscription fulfilment and customer service.
  • Pitch, vet and write original, highly-­engaged, on-­brand, search engine optimized content (including articles, images & social copy) that is consistent with Momentum Mag’s style and sensibility. Write 2­-3 irresistible and informative posts a day.
  • Assist in promoting posts across all Momentum Mag channels
  • Ensure Momentum Mag is meeting client expectations and execution deadlines.
  • Write urban cycling lifestyle product reviews.
  • Learn to recruit and manage a network of contacts including freelancers, publicists, tipsters and industry friends who help to create intriguing content and keep you abreast of the coolest, newest happenings in the urban bike lifestyle space.
  • Become the know-­it-­all on all new urban bike lifestyle products.
  • Assist with office adminstration as needed

The position is located in Vancouver, BC ­ sorry, no telecommuting

For consideration, you must submit your resume and 1­3 writing samples that show your fun, provocative and intelligent voice. Either send a link to your blog or an article you have written in the past or pick an urban cycling lifestyle product and write 150­250 word review and or write an engaging opinion post about something relevant to urban cyclists (word count up to you). Don’t forget to find imagery to go with your article.

This position is funded by a government hiring program.
As such, we are currently only accepting applications from candidates who can meet the following criteria:

1) A post­secondary graduate (with proof)
2) Between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive)
3) Not in school or currently employed
4) Canadians, Permanent Residents, or Protected Persons
5) Must not be a current beneficiary of Employment Insurance (EI)
6) Less than 2 years experience in this field
