Athletic performance, innovation, and style come together in Giro Sport Design’s New Road collection for women.

Following the continued enthusiasm for the New Road collection, the new women’s collection includes 22 pieces from base layers to outerwear and everything in between. The collection includes different categories of pieces designed to provide comfort over longer distances, called Ride, as well as pieces that emphasize urban functionality, called Mobility. Each piece is designed to work seamlessly together though all will stand out on their own.

According to Giro Women’s Senior Apparel Designer Karany Nihm, the Mobility pieces were designed for “savvy women riders who want superior fit, fabric, and performance without sacrificing comfort and/ or personal style.” Included in the Mobility range are a long sleeve shirt made of lightweight chambray with stretch and a drop tail for coverage. The range also includes a pant and short that both feature 4-way stretch and can be integrated into almost any wardrobe since the technical details are “invisible until needed.”

“Overt bike details such as external pockets and loud reflective strips ultimately limit the versatility of a garment by making it too specific for one activity,” said Nihm. “By integrating more discrete storage systems into our base layers, undershorts, and jackets we are able to maintain the functionality of an urban mobility piece without screaming BIKE! This consideration, we think, makes our technical pieces more versatile both on and off the bike.”

These invisible until needed technical details are found not only in subtle pockets and cuts that maintain coverage while riding but are also evident in the choice of fabrics. Fast-drying fabrics with resilient stretch feature prominently as does merino wool, the original performance fabric.

“We took inspiration from athletic and classic sportswear design, with meticulous attention to fabrics, functionality and details that make all the difference when you ride,” said Nihm. “The fit is tailored to complement the shape of the body while respecting range of movement – even when layered up – so that each piece can stand on it’s own or work as part of a system when the body is in motion.”

The women’s New Road apparel line is available through select retailers in North America, Europe, Asia, and at giro.com.
