Main Street Bike Expo

Cycling culture is experiencing rapid growth in Vancouver with more people getting on the saddle each year. The City of Vancouver has plenty of data to prove it. But with only a handful of events bringing cyclists of all ages and abilities together we couldn’t be more excited for the inaugural Main Street Bike Expo taking place this Saturday, June 10th.

Main Street Bike Expo is happening at the Ellis Building (1024 Main Street) from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is $3.

We caught up with some of the organizers of Main Street Bike Expo and asked them a few questions so we could learn more about this event and the people behind it. Thanks Main Street Bike Expo!

MM: How did the Main Street Bike Expo come to be?

MSBE: We decided there wasn’t enough independent cycling events happening in the city to bring all of the unique creative people in the community together. The Ellis Building is a recently renovated historical landmark on Main Street that we saw working well for Eastside Flea so it seemed like a natural fit.

Main Street Bike ExpoMM: Can you tell us a bit more about the people making this happen?

MSBE: A few friends who love bikes and going for bike rides and felt like spending one hot summer day inside talking about being outside.

MM: Who should attend this festival?

MSBE: The Main Street Bike Expo is built around an all inclusive mindset. We want anyone who can ride a bike to come and celebrate bike culture during bike month with us.

MM: Are there a few companies you’re really excited to have take part in the the expo?

MSBE: Mobi By Shaw Go is a big one because they have recently implemented a very important bike share program in the city. You’ve definitely seen the bikes around, but do you know to activate? We’re excited to teach people more. We are also looking forward to working with Landyachtz who are running a Goldsprints, fixed bike time challenge thorughout the day and then hosting the official Main Street Bike Expo after party at their Landyachtz Factory Store (1146 Union) from 8PM to 12 Midnight with bands, DJs and so many fun arcade games.

MM: Are all the exhibitors from Vancouver?

MSBE: Yes for the most part, with representation throughout the Pacific Northwest

MM: What can attendees expect to find at the Main Street Bike Expo?

MSBE: We’ve got tons of great vendors that include bike shops, brands and community organizations. We’ve got live music scheduled throughout the day, food trucks, a show & shine/bicycle beauty pageant, photo art show, tune ups, workshops, bike valet and more

MM: Will there be events happening at the expo throughout the day?

MSBE: Yes we are running the expo 11 AM to 6PM at the Ellis Building (1024 Main Street) and then our afterparty goes from 8PM to 12 Midnight at the Landyachtz Factory Store. Hope you can make it out to both!
