Public’s C7 is an upright, 32 pound, step-through, Dutch-style city bike that is available in five bright and beautiful colors. This bike has 7-speeds, fenders, a chainguard that match its frame, an alloy kickstand, swept-back handlebars, and a memory foam brown seat with matching ergo grips.

COOL FACTOR

The Public C7 is offered in the most gorgeous color palette. It is a really easy off-the-shelf, fun bike to ride. It would be great for a beginner or experienced rider, and is very light for a Dutch-style bike. It also performs really well on hills which is a great feature in an upright model. Public offers a Ready to Ride shipping option where they’ll have your bike 99 percent assembled upon arrival, but we always recommend taking your bike to a bike shop before riding it to ensure that it’s road-ready.

WISH LIST

It would have been nice if the hub were internal and if a dynamo light could have been included. One thing to note when buying this bike is that it’s a great deal, but you may want to add some trimmings to make it more suitable for daily riding. The great thing about Public is that they make most of these trimmings in colors that match their frames!

IDEAL RIDER

This is a great beginner bike, but it’s also a bike that an experienced rider can thoroughly enjoy. Public makes bikes specifically for city riding, and because that’s their sole focus, they never disappoint in delivering a great bicycle for the city rider. Anyone who’s looking for a bike that’s reasonably priced, comfortable, and upright would enjoy the Public C7.

SUMMARY

Overall, this bike made me feel happy, carefree, and like a kid again. It was easy to ride, performed really well on hills even though it’s an upright model, and was also super light. I can’t stress enough how amazing the color options are, and for anyone looking for a head-turning, pretty bike that’s easy to ride, look no further.

Is the C-7 a good bike for guys?

    • Bob

My wife has one of these bikes and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to a guy. While I’m way too big to ride her bike, it is a fantastic bike. Many guys shy away from step throughs, but if that doesn’t bother you, I’d highly recommend it. The Public site lists C7 bikes as coming in large and small sizes. The large is appropriate for someone up to 5′-10″ If you’re taller than that then this bike may not work out for you.

Public does make an internal hub 7 speed for $200 more. It is their model C7I.
“Shifter: Shimano internally geared 7-speed Revoshift twist shifter
Drivetrain system/rear hub: Shimano Nexus Inter-7, 7 speed internal geared hub”
