Priority Bicycles has just introduced the Current Plus, a new upgrade to their already popular Current e-bike. This revamped version builds on the same solid foundation but adds several key improvements that make it even more practical, comfortable, and enjoyable to ride.
One of the standout changes is the addition of a thumb-activated throttle. For riders who have been asking for a little extra assistance on demand, the throttle provides an easy way to get a power boost, whether you’re climbing a hill or need a quick burst of speed. It’s simple, intuitive, and gives riders an extra level of control, making the Priority Current Plus even more versatile for a range of riding styles.
Battery life has also been significantly improved. The Current Plus now features a 720Wh battery, an upgrade from the original 500Wh. This means you can expect longer rides between charges, perfect for both daily commuting and weekend adventures. The battery is removable for easy off-bike charging, adding convenience to the mix.
Another notable enhancement is the optimized motor firmware. The Current Plus features faster acceleration and better hill-climbing abilities, thanks to updates in the motor’s programming. With 140Nm of torque, the motor feels responsive and smooth, making it easier to keep up with traffic or tackle tougher terrain without breaking a sweat.
In terms of handling, the Priority Current Plus has seen improvements to its geometry for better stability and control. The updated 68.5-degree head tube angle provides a smoother, more stable ride, which is particularly noticeable on city streets or when navigating tighter spaces. Combined with the larger 650B x 50mm tires, which offer more comfort and puncture resistance, the ride quality is noticeably improved, making longer distances feel less daunting.
Braking performance has also been upgraded with all-weather hydraulic disc brakes, now featuring a motor cut-off switch. This allows for safer, more controlled stops, especially when riding in wet or variable conditions. The system ensures that the motor assist is disengaged when you engage the brakes, providing an extra layer of safety.
The Priority Current Plus also brings a more comfortable riding experience. The handlebars have been redesigned with a 17-degree backsweep and a 20mm rise, allowing for a more natural grip and an upright riding position. This update not only reduces strain on the wrists but also improves visibility in traffic, making urban commutes a lot more comfortable.
Overall, the Priority Current Plus offers an excellent balance of performance, comfort, and low maintenance. With its mid-drive motor, belt drive system, and high-quality components, it’s a bike designed to make your rides smoother and more enjoyable, whether you’re commuting through the city or exploring new routes on the weekend.
