Bike Friday has introduced the Haul-a-Day, a cargo bike with a focus on handling and versatility that is designed to be light, short, and agile.
Co-creator of the Haul-a-Day, Shane MacRhodes, the Eugene Safe Routes to School Coordinator, was instrumental in the development of what Bike Friday hopes to be the ultimate family cargo bike. Unique to the Haul-a-Day is an adjustable frame that can be set to accommodate riders from 4′ to 6’4″ (1.2-1.9 meters) with just a simple adjustment.
The Haul-a-Day weighs roughly 35 pounds (15.9 kg) and is about 8 inches (20 cm) shorter than other cargo bikes on the market. With 20″ wheels, the Haul-a-Day has a lower center of gravity for balancing heavy loads and makes the frame easy to step over.
The Haul-a-Day official release starts with four available options. A Frame Kit for $989, a Haul-a-Day Planner basic bike for $1199, the Short Haul-a-Day for $1498 that includes dual side bags and a sturdy double-leg kickstand, and the Haul-a-Day Spa with an internal-gear hub for $2195.
In addition to the new frame, Bike Friday co-founder Alan Scholz has designed a line of Bike Friday accessories that work seamlessly with the Haul-a-Day to assist in creating the perfect family cargo bike.
Bike Friday’s Haul-a-Day can be custom ordered for delivery in October 2014.
