Hayes Valley is locally known as “dessert gulch” for the neighborhood’s wide selection of artisan sweets. It is also home to the PUBLIC San Francisco flagship store, carrying the brand’s colorful collection of city bikes and accessories. “PUBLIC is a design-oriented company,” said Dan Nguyen-Tan at PUBLIC. “Color and simplicity are important to us so our Hayes flagship store reflects this brand aesthetic.” Bikes here are hung on walls and mounted on pedestals like accessible works of art. In addition to sales and service, the shop also hosts readings, launch parties, and other community-building events.

My daughter bought a v7 from the San Francisco store and picked it up in Oakland. It’s a great ride, beautiful red color, smooth as silk. 7 speed internal hub. A work of art at $600.
