Q: When did you start using your bike to get from point A to point B?
I moved to New York City 25 years ago and my bikes have been on the streets with me ever since. Traveling on two wheels is getting easier all the time in NYC thanks to an expanded network of safer, buffered bike lanes and a soon-to-be awesome bike share program.
Q: How has your bike transformed your daily life?
For me, cycling is sanity. Turning these cranks settles me down. And I do some of my best thinking in the saddle. I frequently have to pull over, whip out my iPhone and tap in my latest idea. My bike is my brainstorming partner.
Q: What advice would you give to others who want to start biking?
Ride safe. Get a quality helmet, rear flicker lights, a good headlight and follow the rules of the road. When your safety gear is in place, you can relax and enjoy the ride. And get professionally fitted. A bike that has been adjusted to your physical specs and preferred riding posture is going to give you a lot more cycling pleasure.
