What is your BikeStyle?
Like a bohemian, expatriate, American artist living in 1920s Paris was transported to modernday Boston and got a bicycle. At least that’s what I pretend it is.
What are your favorite clothes to bike in?
I wear my normal clothes, except that my normal clothes aren’t normal for sporty Boston. I dress mostly smart casual with bright colors, patterns, creative layers, scarves, skirts, and jewelry. I always wear dresses when it rains – it’s easier to dry off and it’s cooler. Have you ever tried rain pants? Skip them.
Where are we most likely to spot your bike?
Wherever good chocolate cake is sold.
What do you like most about riding?
It’s lazy, easy, and uncomplicated. My bike goes everywhere I want to go, whenever I want, and faster. Parking is rarely an issue and I don’t have to check bus/ train schedules or worry when the Red Line tracks catch on fire (again).
What is your dream bike for everyday cycling?
I finally have it! A Soma Buena Vista mixte with a 3-speed Sturmey-Archer hub and Nitto North Road bars.
What did you eat for breakfast?
Oven-baked apple ginger Dutch pancake. Veggie bacon. Anastasia tea from Kusmi.
What song is most played on your iPod?
“Sister Kate” by the Ditty Bops. According to the Internet, they are musicians who bike.
Basket or panniers?
So my stuff kept flying out of my basket at every pothole and there are lots of potholes here. Plus, it also made my steering wonky and I don’t like being more awkward than I already am. So I gave up on baskets and now use a cross-body bag and sometimes shopper panniers.
