E-bikes can provide so much for people, whether it’s for commuting to work, quick trips around the neighborhood, recreation or weekend trips. But, it’s challenging finding something that is affordable. And that’s where DYU comes in, a brand featuring a lightweight design and a great riding experience in a reasonable price range.

The brand is new to the North American market and there are savings to be had while DYU launches here.

DYU is an intelligent sports technology company focusing on e-bikes in Shenzhen, China, and has set up R&D operation service centers in Europe and the US. DYU bikes are now sold in more than 60 countries around the world with an expanding lineup of models.

The brand’s product design concept is “intelligence is standard, design comes first.”

Let’s take a look at a few of the new models ideal for spring riding.

DYU V8

DYU e-bike

The V8 is a unique and stylish 750w electric fat tire bike designed for a variety of riding from urban commuting to weekend recreation. It boasts a powerful motor, lithium ion battery, and seven-speed Shimano cassette. Commuters will appreciate the dual hydraulic shocks and disc brakes. There are three riding modes with speeds of up to 28 mph. The battery is removable and housing horizontally under the seat and within the top tube. The bike has a fun retro look  with curved, almost ape hangar handebars that offer a comfortable, upright riding position.

What we like: A fat tire bike that makes sense in an urban environment with greater mobility is a bonus.

Price, $1,699 but the V8 is discounted $200 to $1,499 until March 6, 2023.

DYU T1

Looking for something on the stylish side for a cool ride about town, this one might be it. The DYU T1 is a stunning foldable e-bike constructed of lightweight magnesium alloy featuring torque sensor technology for more efficient battery use. Key for those long commutes. The removable battery is hidden away behind the seat. There is also an adjustable seat with a shock absorption system in place. The max speed for the rear-hub motor is about 15 mph.

What we like: Compact, good weight, ideal for commuting and city living.

Price, $1,099 but the T1 is discounted $200 to $899 until March 6, 2023.

DYU King 750

Everything about the King 750 is big and bold. It has a powerful 750w motor with 75N/M torque and 48V 20Ah LG battery as well as Shimano disc brakes. This bike is built for those who like a little more adventure. With the front and seatpost suspension and 26×4-inch fat tires it can easily handle dirt and gravel trails. It even has a max range of 90 miles and an IP54 water resistance rating for those beach rides. Other features include a half-twist throttle, and an impressive large display.

What we like: Versatility of the King 750 is great, ride a variety of surfaces on the weekends, but also good for city trips.

Price, $1,799 but the King750 is discounted $200 to $1,599 until March 6, 2023.

DYU FF500

This is the all-arounder that might be most appealling to many. It offers a convenient, step-through design with a powerful 500w motor and 20×4 fat tires. So it is very versatile and offers a fun ride even on challenging surfaces. The 18650 lithium battery comes withe a battery management system to save energy for when you need it. We love the large and multi-functional LED display, and the simple folding system that will allow riders to pack the bike in the trunk for weekend getaways. It comes with a 20 mph max speed,  three levels of assist and a thumb throttle.

What we like: The flexibility of the FF500 is good, upright riding position is pleasing, step-through design will appeal to a wider demographic.

Price, $1,499 but the FF500 is discounted $200 to $1,299 until March 6, 2023.
