The all-new Garmin Varia Vue aims to offer a single, compact device that combines a smart headlight with a high-res camera—perfect for the daily commuter.
At first glance, the Garmin Varia Vue looks like just another handlebar-mounted headlight. But it’s much more than that. Inside is a 4K front-facing camera that records your ride while a powerful 600-lumen beam lights the way. The headlight adapts to your speed and surroundings—especially when paired with a Garmin Edge cycling computer—so you’re not just lit up, you’re lit smart.
The Vue, like all good bike cameras, also acts as a digital witness. If something goes wrong—a close call, an incident, or an actual crash—the camera automatically saves footage from before, during, and after the event. The video is stabilized for clarity and can even be backed up to Garmin’s cloud storage via Wi-Fi, provided you have a subscription. For urban riders sharing the road with traffic, that kind of documentation is a game-changer.

Battery life is solid, too. You’ll get up to seven hours of recording time with the light in day flash mode, and even more if you’re just using the camera. It charges via USB-C and can even be used while charging, so longer rides—or forgetting to charge overnight—won’t leave you in the dark.
The Garmin Varia Vue also includes a discreet built-in mic for clear audio, and settings can be tweaked mid-ride from your Garmin Edge or the Varia app—no need to pull over and fumble with buttons.
For commuters who’ve ever wished their bike camera was smarter, their headlight brighter, or their setup simpler, the Varia Vue checks all the boxes. It’s available now for $549.99 USD, and while that price puts it squarely in the premium category, the peace of mind it offers might be worth every penny on your ride to work.
