In a collaboration of cinematic proportion, Aston Martin, renowned for its luxury sports cars, and J.Laverack, a British titanium bicycle leader, have joined forces to introduce an awe-inspiring road bicycle like no other. Aptly named the J.Laverack Aston Martin .1R, this two-wheeled marvel is a fusion of high-performance automotive expertise and cutting-edge bicycle engineering, offering a host of innovative features that set it apart.
Crafted with meticulous attention to detail and design, the .1R showcases a visually boltless, fully integrated structure that not only exemplifies aesthetic purity but also demonstrates an unmatched obsession for precision. The result is a bicycle that could deliver exceptional performance and also redefine elegance and beauty on two wheels.
At the heart of the .1R’s construction lies a seamless blend of parametrically designed, 3D printed titanium lugs and sculpted carbon fiber tubes. This innovative approach yields a frame that excels in responsiveness and comfort while setting new standards for visual appeal. The intricate herringboned weave of the carbon fiber is a testament to the precision involved in manufacturing.
“Working with the team at Aston Martin has unlocked new ideas and innovations, creating a bicycle more advanced than anything currently available on the market,” said Oliver Laverack, co-founder of J.Laverack Bicycles. “Every component is designed to be part of the whole, achieving an unsurpassed degree of integration.”
The .1R’s clean lines and integrated four-piston brake calipers, designed from scratch, eliminate the need for exposed cables or hoses, making for an uncluttered and sleek appearance. The .1R draws inspiration from the world of high-performance automotive design, incorporating elements from Aston Martin’s supercar and hypercar programs.
Marek Reichman, Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer at Aston Martin, compared the .1R to a “titanium hypercar on two wheels” and praised the fusion of engineering advancements with performance design, promising an exhilarating riding experience.
Every owner of the .1R will have the opportunity to visit Aston Martin’s headquarters in Gaydon for a personalized fitting session with the founders of J.Laverack. This unique experience allows for extensive customization, including selecting color palettes and trim choices that match those available for Aston Martin’s cars.
Furthermore, the integration of the road bicycle into Aston Martin’s online configurator enables potential customers to specify their dream .1R. This digital tool allows users to individually select the color of various components, from the tubes to the handlebar drops, creating a truly bespoke ride.
The bicycle also comes with a travel case in aluminum or carbon, which serves both as a travel solution and a display case for the .1R. Additionally, the case contains a matching track pump with Alcantara or leather-covered handles.
The collaboration between Aston Martin and J.Laverack has resulted in a bicycle that blurs the lines between innovation and tradition, showcasing both breathtaking beauty and unparalleled functionality. It’s a bicycle fitting the likes of James Bond, one of Aston Martin’s most illustrious drivers.
The J.Laverack Aston Martin .1R will make its public debut at Rouleur Live in London on Nov. 2, allowing enthusiasts and cycling aficionados to witness the culmination of this remarkable partnership.
