Honda is introducing the Motocompacto, an intriguing new electric scooter that aims to provide affordable and eco-friendly personal transportation. Priced at $995US, the Motocompacto is available for order exclusively at Motocompacto.Honda.com.
The Motocompacto features sleek and simple styling along with an ultra-compact foldable design, inspired by the Honda Motocompo (see below) from the early 1980s. With a maximum speed of 15 mph and a zero-emissions range of up to 12 miles, it is designed to be a convenient mode of transportation for cityscapes, college campuses, and as a first-mile/last-mile vehicle. Each Motocompacto comes equipped with a standard compact charger that can be conveniently stowed on-board.
Part of Honda’s broader electrification strategy, the Motocompacto is positioned as a fun and innovative addition to the lineup. Developed by Honda engineers in the U.S., the scooter is aimed at reducing carbon footprints while providing riders with easy and enjoyable mobility. Its foldable design allows for convenient storage and portability, fitting into a compact carrying case that facilitates transportation in vehicles, on public transit, or in tight spaces. It also takes up very little space while charging.
If thinking of this for a first-mile/last-mile option, keep in mind that it does weigh more than 40 pounds.
The launch aligns with Honda’s upcoming entry into the fully-electric SUV market, featuring the Honda Prologue and Acura ZDX, both set to debut in early 2024.
