N.Bidlake’s All-round trousers are designed for adventure but are more than your average outdoor pants. What at first glance appear to be a pair of dress pants are revealed to be a thoughtful design that is focused on allowing movement. The trousers are made of 43 percent wool and 54 percent recycled polyester (pop bottles!) along with a “touch of spandex” for a subtle give. On the bike, this material allows your legs to be free to pedal and hop over top tubes with ease. Pockets are buttoned on the rear and deep up front. I found the fabric to be tough yet supple – they feel great on the skin. Wool is a natural fiber and perfect for this type of garment, resistant to soiling and maintaining a sharp look after many long days (and nights). While a natural temperature regulator, the blend isn’t very wind-resistant so sub-zero riding can give your legs a chill, but that’s what merino underwear is for.

Wear them with a blazer and tie, dress shoes or sneakers, a black t-shirt (perhaps N.Bidlake’s Feel Naked undershirt) – these versatile trousers will go the distance in any wardrobe. The owners recently celebrated 1000 miles in the saddle wearing their own All-rounders and the side-by-side comparison proves that these pants are indeed tough. I haven’t quite made it to that milestone, but I do feel very confident in recommending these as a true “all around” pant for  bridging worlds – boardroom to bike path.

Available in Men’s sizes 28-38 and a Women’s All-rounder trouser is also available.
