In a world filled with noise and chaos, there are those who choose to make a difference quietly, one pedal stroke at a time. Sebastian Schwesig and Ihor Volochiy are two such individuals who embarked on an extraordinary 1500-kilometer journey through Ukraine, not for fame or glory, but to support Ukrainian aid projects and shed light on the lives of those affected by war.

A Charitable Expedition Unveiled

The “Ride The Line 2023” project, led by Sebastian Schwesig and Ukrainian cyclist Ihor Volochiy, is more than just a bikepacking adventure—it’s a charitable expedition with a noble cause. Their journey takes them along the line of war, through liberated villages and towns, as they aim to achieve two distinct yet interconnected goals.

Pedaling for a Purpose:

  1. Raising Funds for Ukrainian Aid Projects: Sebastian and Ihor’s tireless pedaling isn’t just about covering kilometers; it’s about covering the needs of those affected by conflict. The funds raised through this journey go toward supporting various Ukrainian aid projects. These projects provide crucial assistance to individuals and communities affected by the ongoing challenges in the region.
  2. Documenting Life Amidst War: Beyond fundraising, the duo is on a mission to share the untold stories of people living in the midst of conflict. Armed with cameras and a determination to document the realities of war, they are creating a film documentary that captures the essence of life in these war-torn areas. Through their lens, viewers can gain a deeper understanding of the human stories often overshadowed by headlines.

The Path Less Pedaled in Ukraine

Sebastian and Ihor’s chosen route for this charity bikepacking expedition is as remarkable as their cause. Starting in Shostka, Ukraine, they’ll pedal through towns and cities, including Konotop, Sumy, Kharkiv, Balakliya, Isyum, Slowyansk, Kramatorsk, Zaporizhzhya, Kherson, and finally Odessa, covering a distance of 1500 kilometers. Along the way, they’ll pass through areas that have been directly impacted by conflict and those that have emerged from its shadows.
