Tern is at it again, this time with another satisfying and impressive entry in the compact cargo bike category: the Tern Quick Haul Long.

Just two years after launching the affordable Quick Haul cargo bike, Terns is releasing a new long tail version.

The Quick Haul Long is a versatile and compact cargo bike designed to meet the demands of modern families and busy urbanites providing a solid alternative to a car.  One that is capable of handling school runs, grocery shopping, or a date night, the Quick Haul Long seems capable of getting things done.

A New Standard in Compact Cargo Bikes

The compact cargo bike segment took off in 2018 with the launch of Tern’s GSD, which demonstrated that small bikes could accomplish tasks typically reserved for cars. Since then, as the cargo bike market becomes more and more competitive especially in the compact cargo bike category, Tern has continued to fine-tune its design and features to really drill down and create more options for people keen on trying out cargo bikes.

Tern’s latest model, the Quick Haul Long, incorporates the best features of the GSD while offering a more accessible price point. The result is a bike that is both affordable and uncompromising in terms of safety and reliability.

The Quick Haul Long boasts compact 20” wheels and measures roughly the same length as a standard city bike, yet it has a huge load capacity. Rated for a maximum gross vehicle weight of 190 kg (419 lbs), it can comfortably carry two children or an adult on the rear. Its low center of gravity, sturdy frame, and optimized design ensure a smooth, stable ride even when fully loaded.

The bike is suitable for riders ranging from 5’1″ to 6’1″.

The earlier version of the Quick Haul Long could handle one child and about a hundred pounds less than this new model. So, it’s basically an upgrade for growing families.

Bosch Quality at an Accessible Price

Powered by the robust Bosch Cargo Line motor, the Quick Haul Long stands out as one of the most competitively priced premium cargo bikes available. While Bosch is synonymous with top-tier e-bike systems, Tern has managed to deliver this high-end performance at a price that appeals to a broader audience. This makes the Quick Haul Long a compelling upgrade for those who previously settled for budget models, offering superior performance, serviceability, reliability, and safety.

Perfectly Designed for Urban Living

Tern really does seem focussed on cyclists in the dense urban areas that need cargo bikes that maximise storage and flexibility to do a lot of daily tasks while at the same time being compact enough to stow away in the corner of a condo.

For instance, the Quick Haul Long offers several features pointed directly at this scenario.

Easy to Park: The bike stands upright, fitting into elevators and small apartments, eliminating the hassle of outdoor parking.

Easy to Share: Adjustable in seconds without tools, it accommodates riders between 155 – 185 cm (5’1” – 6’1”), making it ideal for family use.

Modular Design: A variety of Tern accessories allow the bike to adapt to a family’s evolving needs, whether it’s carrying kids, adults, pets, or cargo.

Durable Build: Equipped with components from reputable brands known for quality and after-sales support, the Quick Haul Long promises longevity and value.

Commitment to Safety

The popularity of cargo bikes has surged, but safety standards haven’t always kept up. Tern has taken a proactive approach by testing the Quick Haul Long’s frame and fork to meet the rigorous DIN79010 standard, ensuring a maximum gross vehicle weight of 190 kg. Additionally, all structural components, including the stem, seatpost, handlebar, and wheels, have been tested for a 120 kg rider load, emphasizing Tern’s commitment to rider and passenger safety.

Tern Quick Haul Long Pricing

The Tern Quick Haul Long is priced at $3,799, about $800 more than the starting price point for the Quick Haul in 2022. The bikes will start arriving in bike shops across Europe and North America in August.
