The 2024 Brompton World Championships set to return England

After an absence of nearly five years, London’s most exhilarating, or at least most unique, cycling spectacle returns, spanning an entire weekend from June 21 to 23, 2024.

Prepare for the grandeur of the Brompton World Championships in all its glory, featuring the iconic BWC race set on a bespoke circuit nestled in the heart of the city.

Details regarding race tickets and further particulars will be unveiled imminently. This year, however, entry operates on a first-come, first-served basis—promptness is key.

The Brompton World Championships kicked off in 2006 and 2007 in Barcelona, Spain, before relocating to England in 2008, gracing the splendid grounds of Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire.

This unique racing format perfectly echoes the Brompton’s folding ingenuity. Riders start by sprinting to their neatly arranged folded Brompton bikes on the ground. Once unfolded, the race begins. Covering distances typically ranging from 10 to 20 km, the course presents a mix of terrains, showcasing the Brompton’s adaptability. While speed isn’t the sole focus, endurance reigns supreme as participants tackle the course on bikes originally designed for urban commuting rather than racing.

Enhancing the event’s allure is its dress code. Participants are required to dress in formal or semi-formal attire, with a minimum requirement of a suit jacket, tie, and dress shirt.
