In a significant stride towards sustainable commuting, Pashley, the distinguished British bicycle manufacturer, has unveiled its latest innovation at the Cenex-LCV event today. The Pashley Multi-trike is an eco-friendly, chain-less cargo concept designed to cater to the evolving needs of those looking for new mobility options.
Unlike conventional electric trikes, the Pashley Multi-trike takes a unique approach to power its wheels. It employs a generator located at the pedal crank, which activates battery-driven motors on each of its rear wheels. This ‘drive-by-wire’ system simplifies the mechanics and makes it incredibly user-friendly. Riders can hop on the saddle, start pedaling, and let the eDriveIN system provide up to 70Nm of torque to each rear wheel.
Pashley’s Multi-trike bridges the gap between bicycles and tricycles. It offers the stability of a tricycle while maintaining the agility and simplicity of a bicycle. This hybridization results in a seamless and enjoyable riding experience, making it accessible to a broad range of cyclists.
One of the standout features of the Multi-trike is its innovative cargo box. Pashley’s ‘Multi-Pod’ boasts a 240-liter capacity, akin to that of a standard supermarket trolley. The cargo box also includes a lockable lid, a built-in headrest, and a fold-down seat. These features make it perfect for carrying one or two children, along with your shopping or other essentials.
Pashley has designed the Multi-trike with versatility in mind. It offers various options for rear boxes, allowing users to customize their cargo configuration. Whether you need a flat-bed or a pick-up style setup, this adaptable trike can accommodate your specific needs.
Pashley, renowned for its commitment to sustainability, has created the Multi-trike with a minimal carbon footprint. By offering an eco-friendly alternative for daily commuting and cargo transportation, Pashley contributes to a cleaner and greener environment.
The Pashley Multi-trike is set to enter production in the first half of 2024. While pricing details are yet to be finalized, it is expected to be in the region of £6,500. This forward-thinking innovation reaffirms Pashley’s dedication to providing practical and sustainable transportation solutions for both business and consumer markets.
