Xtracycle, a long-established name in cargo bike innovation, has unveiled its latest model, the Hopper. This new electric cargo bike represents the company’s most compact design to date, aimed at offering both a premium ride experience and substantial carrying capacity.

The Hopper features a design that has a sleek and compact profile with some serious functionality. It features a smaller wheelbase and an accessible frame that accommodates riders ranging from 5 feet to 6 feet 5 inches in height. Despite its compact dimensions, the Hopper boasts a payload capacity of 500 pounds, comparable to larger cargo bikes but with a length similar to that of standard bicycles. A real bonus when it comes to bicycle feel and manoeuvrability.

Key features of the Hopper include a 750W rear hub motor, a 720 Watt-hour battery, and a torque sensor that supports speeds of up to 28 mph. The bike is equipped with 20-inch wheels, a hydraulic disc brake system, a front suspension fork, and a suspension-dropper post. The Hopper is also designed to provide a range of up to 60 miles on a single charge, making it suitable for various urban and commuting needs.

In addition to its performance specs, the Hopper includes practical accessories such as Hooptie passenger bars, a front PorterRack, full-coverage fenders, integrated lights, and a sturdy center kickstand. A notable addition is the throttle feature, which aids in smooth starts and acceleration, particularly beneficial when the bike is heavily loaded.

“Our goal with the Hopper was to create a bike that is not only functional and durable but also enjoyable to ride and easy to incorporate into daily routines,” says Steve Zourntos, head of product at Xtracycle. “We believe this bike will appeal to urban families looking for a versatile and practical transportation solution.”

The Hopper is currently available for pre-order through Xtracycle’s website, with US shipping set to begin on Oct. 11. For a limited time. It can be purchased at an introductory price of $2,499US, with the standard retail price being $2,999.
