Vässla, a company specializing in electric bikes, has announced the availability of its Vässla Pedal e-bike in the United States. Alongside this release, they have introduced Vässla Club, a subscription service specifically catering to New Yorkers.

According to Rickard Bröms, the founder and CEO of Vässla, the average speed of cars in New York City is a mere 7.5 mph, which is slower than both e-bikes and the horse-drawn carriages of two centuries ago. Bröms emphasizes that replacing cars, ride shares, and taxis with e-bikes for short urban trips is the most effortless means of reducing CO2 emissions and noise pollution in cities.

Weighing in at 42 pounds and featuring a lightweight detachable five-pound battery for charging and theft prevention, Vässla’s e-bike is designed to facilitate commuting in the city. Its unisex frame caters to individuals of all genders. Boasting integrated lights and gears, the bike showcases the simplicity characteristic of Scandinavian design. It has already been honored with the German Design Award since its launch in Europe in 2022.

Christian Zanzotti, the designer behind the Pedal e-bike, remarks that they have crafted a novel electric bicycle, aiming to create a contemporary masterpiece with exceptional performance while promoting inclusivity. Zanzotti describes the Pedal as a symbol of the new urban era and expresses immense pride in this remarkable product.

Vässla Club is a subscription service that offers monthly ownership flexibility. It includes three options: Flex, which allows for a one-month subscription at $139 per month plus a $49 start-up fee; Pro 6, offering a six-month subscription at $129 per month; and Pro 12, providing a twelve-month subscription at $109 per month. Subscribers receive a helmet, lock, and phone holder, and have the option to purchase baskets. Additionally, Pro 6 and Pro 12 subscribers are eligible for free maintenance through Vässla’s partner, Cycle Haus.
