This North Carolina-based company might be making the safest, most fuel-efficient vehicles on the planet – the electric assist, pedal-driven, solar-powered ELF tricycle designed specifically for urban commuting.

Organic Transit’s idea was to create a super safe, highly visible vehicle with a weatherproof shell that can excel in city traffic. The result, according to co-founder and former automotive engineer, Rob Cotter, is a comfortable and easy-to-ride trike that can go anywhere a standard bike goes. “This is a very pleasant, pedal-able vehicle that has the ability to completely change the way we think about bike commuting,” said Cotter.

World Bicycle Relief uses the power of bicycles to create a world where distance is no longer a barrier to education, healthcare, and economic opportunity. Through their work, WBR has trained 900 field mechanics and provided more than 180,000 specially designed, locally assembled bicycles to disaster survivors, healthcare workers, students, and entrepreneurs.
