Xtracycle, a pioneering brand in the family cargo bike industry, is responding to the increasing popularity of electric cargo bikes with a range of new offerings. These additions include enhanced speed and customization options for their flagship models.

With a legacy spanning 25 years, Xtracycle has always prioritized real-ride quality, everyday usability, safety, and rider-centric features. To cater to the surging demand in the e-cargo market, they have introduced Class 3 versions of their mid-tail RFA (Ready for Anything) and signature longtail Swoop models. These new versions are equipped with the Shimano EP6 series drive system, allowing for a maximum assisted speed of 28 mph.

“It’s exciting to see cargo bikes being used for more than just weekend recreation. As more riders depend on them to commute, haul families, and run errands, we’ve expanded our offerings to meet growing needs,” says Steve Zourntos, director of product development at Xtracycle. “Our core focus remains on elevating the cargo experience and ensuring the safety and reliability families expect from our bikes, whether tackling the day’s to-do list or adventuring on the weekends.”

These Class 3 RFA and Swoop models complement the existing Class 1 RFA and Swoop bikes in Xtracycle’s lineup. The Class 3 cargo e-bikes offer higher speeds to better keep up with traffic and reduce transit times, making them suitable for passengers and cargo alike. On the other hand, the Class 1 RFA and Swoop models are well-suited for riding with younger children or on regulated trails where assisted speeds are capped at 20 mph.

In addition to these new bike offerings, Xtracycle has introduced two new bag options: the longtail BoomBox bag and the RFA CargoBay bags. These accessories expand the possibilities for customizing the passenger and cargo setup according to individual preferences.

Marie-Claire Leman, Director of Customer Experience at Xtracycle, highlighted the company’s commitment to meeting customer demands, stating, “Feedback from our customers has shown us there is an appetite for models that could go farther and faster for daily transportation needs. Understanding this demand, we’ve leveled up our options while maintaining the capability, comfort, and handling that makes Xtracycle the leader in family bikes. We want to provide the right bike for each rider’s personal adventure.”
